Diving Glass
She is held
together so tightly
that a fingernail
pressed to the skin
would send her in pieces
across oceans and land.
"Press me.", she begs
"Push me off
a somersault
a falling pearl
into a glass of water."
She is a small sea in that space
treading with one hand.
They are pressed
together so tightly
her thin lips
to a leaning cheek
the wave of her mouth
offering you a parting gift
asking you to take them.
"Hear this.", she begs
a whisper to her darlings,
"Can you see
all I have left to give you?"
She is a diving glass
now emptied and ringed
with salt water.
