Drawing from 10 years in design education and research, 10 years in interior architecture practice, and 8 years in EdTech, I leverage life and human-centered design processes in development of the built environment, curriculum and instruction, products, and services. I hold a BA in Psychology and a Masters of Interior Design from the Boston Architectural College. I spent 4 years as a Professor of Interior Design at Savannah College of Art and Design, was a Fulbright Fellow to Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bangaluru, India, and am currently an Assistant Professor of Interior Design Practice at Texas State University.
My focus is on building building UX Research and qualitative research methods in conjuction with design capabilities: applying them to upper level studios through 3D conceptual development to construction documentation. My expertise is in environmental psychology and wayfinding, project-based learning and instructional design, design leadership and project management.

How I Work
- Use design-based research to look, listen, learn, and improve experiences and built environments.
- Engage end-users through their lived experiences and aspirations for the future.
- Approach problems through a systems lens.
- Find ways to co-create and work collaboratively across disciplines, with clients, stakeholders, end-users and teams.
- Spend a lot of time facilitating and mentoring workgroups through workshops and reflective/iterative processes.
- Share design thinking and user-experience tools so clients are empowered to unpack difficult problems.
- Communicate findings through narrative storytelling, utilizing reports, information graphics and video.
- Make stuff, whether prototypes, art or games, to explore, research, and test out ideas.
- Develop manipulatives that make complicated processes easier to implement.
Methods I Use
I utilize a number of mix methods and UX research methods in a design-based implementation research framework when designing a new product, service, curriculum or environment. I select appropriate methods based on stakeholder input, the research questions being investigated and the opportunities or issues that arise during the project.
Case Studies
The case studies below highlight the research and development process, findings and outcomes for curriculum design and educational product design projects. All three projects were funded through various grants including from the National Science Foundation, the California Strong Workforce Program, and the US Fulbright Program/Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship.
Design Studio
The design studio reflects my work as an interior architect, educator and award winning installation artist. I worked as a lead designer and project manager with technology and life science companies in the 128 Technology Circle in Massachusettes, k12 and higher education in the NorthEast, and my work as a Professor of Interior Design at Savannah College of Art and Design and Texas State University in San Marcos, TX.
